Our Commitment to You

BOD election meet-the-candidates: Debbie Harris and Neil Watts

With your support, we pledge to serve our community with dedication and optimism, guided by these 5 commitments:

  1. Champion transparent communication and inclusive decision-making

2. Proactively maintain facilities and plan cost-effective projects that enhance our lifestyle, connectivity, and convenience, with open community input.

  • Initiate planning and funding for future projects - a 5–10-year capital improvement plan.

  • Our preference is to talk to people face to face, we don’t claim to know what’s best for you, so after talking to many people about burning issues, we will look into aspects such as:

    • Carolina Water Service (CWS) issues

    • A dog park for larger dogs

    • Parking for boat trailers

    • Initiate research to investigate the decline of fish in the Harbour

    • Weather station at the Harbour entrance connected to FH website for the boaters, sailors, golfers, bikers, kayakers, gardeners, birders, and walkers

3. Foster peace and unity by creating opportunities for neighbors to connect through vibrant, inclusive events (While working with exiting committees, or creating new ones).

  • Schedule regular events that encourage participation -starting with our 4th of July parade – let’s make it the biggest yet

  • Organize volunteer events for planting and beautification days

  • Focus more on veterans and first responders, including the Marines’ 250th birthday coming up

  • Enhance our new residents’ welcome program to include a presentation about the community, golf cart tour, sunset cruise & social to meet other residents

  • Focus on health and fitness opportunities for all ages

4. Ensure fiscally responsible budgeting and innovative revenue strategies to secure our community’s future

  • Publish budgets and spending reports regularly in an easy-to-read format

  • Ensure reserve funds are properly maintained for emergencies

  • Propose an expenditure threshold of $1 Million to be put to community vote

  • Digitize POA services and make available multiple means for payment

  • Form a Revenue Generating Advisory Board

  • Generate Revenue using the old POA offices and meeting rooms

5. To remain adaptable and responsive to the evolving needs of our diverse, multi-generational neighborhood.
